Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh,
North Carolina, on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a
theatre actor writer, director and writer, and her mother, Sara Wood, is an
actor as well as acting coach. She is the daughter of Dana Wood, a musician, as
well as Ira David Wood III, an actor. Evan as well as her brothers appeared in
the Theatre In The Park, Raleigh in the same place where her father is the
director. After a long and drawn-out audition process at the age of five, she
was old when she was able to screen-test against Kirsten Dunst. In 1996, she
relocated to Los Angeles along with her brother Ira and mother. She has
appeared in TV shows film, feature films, and television movies since. She has
appeared in Practical Magic (1998), starred in the comedy S1m0ne (2002) as the
daughter of Al Pacino, and followed that with Thirteen (2003), with Holly
Hunter. Her breakout role as Tracy in "Thirteen" garnered her a
Golden Globes nomination for Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture:
Drama and for an Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding
Performance by a Female Actor in the Leading Role. At the time she was
nominated by SAG it was her youngest actress in the Leading Role category. For
her performance in Veda Pierce in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011),
she received an Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. She also earned acclaim for
her impressive performance as Stephanie her character, Mickey Rourke's
estranged daughter, in Darren Aronsofsky's The Wrestler (2008). She is the
daughter of Ira David Wood III and Sara Wood. Ira David Wood IV's younger
sister, and Dana Wood's younger sister. A dancer who has been trained. She
loves to sing, swim, rollerblade, and go back on horses. She holds an black
belt in tae Kwon Do. Has kept in touch with a majority of her Once and Again
(1999) co-stars: Mischa Barton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
